JANITORS is here! by Tyler Whitesides
At long last, my debut novel, JANITORS, is here! I can't even express how fun and exciting it is to see my book on shelves. I feel truly humbled to have this great experience. Being a published author has been a dream and a goal of mine since I was very young. I thought I would take today's post to announce this news and explain what the process was like for me.
I wrote the first draft of Janitors in June 2009. I had been working as a part time custodian at a local middle school. My nightly cleaning shift was valuable brainstorming time for me. After about a year of taking out trash and sweeping floors, I realized that I had a fun story to tell! I sat down and wrote out the rough draft.
A short time after, I had the chance to meet an editor from Shadow Mountain Publishing. She thought my elevator pitch was interesting and took the manuscript home. Six months later (and many more revisions), Janitors went under contract for publication. A year after that (August 2011) it's hitting the shelves.
I feel so lucky to have this great opportunity! I hope many people will enjoy reading JANITORS.
