'Tis the Season (December Theme) by Tracy Barrett

Most of us who write for or read this blog were lucky enough to grow up surrounded by books. I had the added bonus of growing up in a town where many children's authors lived, so I got early exposure to some of the greats of an earlier generation (most notably Charlotte Zolotow and Jean Fritz; Ed Young and others later moved there). But we all know that for many children, books are an unaffordable luxury and authors might as well live on the moon.

I'd like to do something to help make a difference, even a tiny one. Everyone who comments on this post by December 20 will be entered in a drawing to win a signed copy of any one of my books of your choice (see a list of the most popular here) to be given to the school of your choice, with your name as the donor, plus a free Skype talk at that school.

  1. What a lovely idea, Tracy! Please count me in. I know a little school in Vermont who needs one (or more) of your books.
